E-Learning and STEM Summit for Jamaican Educatorsscheduled just in time for Back to School

The Jamaica Diaspora Education Task Force (JDETF) has joined forces with the Agile Education Group and the Ministry of Education Youth Information (MOEYI) to present an E-Learning and STEM Summit from August 25-27, 2020. Other partners include the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology, E-Learning Jamaica, and the Scientific Research Council.

The three coordinators for the event, Don Jones, President of Agile Education Group,  Priscilla Deans, National STEM Coordinator at the MOEYI, and Dr. Dwayne Dyce, Chairman of JDETF set as the primary mission of the summit: to demonstrate the value of remote learning solutions particularly in this pandemic environment.

JDETF chair, Dr. Dwayne Dyce added;  “JDETF is relentless in our pursuit to add value to the Jamaican education landscape. With schools set to open in a few short weeks, this is the perfect time for the topics covered in the planned sessions.”
The summit will zero in on E-Learning best practices, Government of Jamaica E-Learning priorities, and online STEM programs.  Sessions include:

  • E-Learning without the internet
  • Retaining students’ learning capacity in the online scenario
  • Case studies in optimal E-Learning deployment
  • Future-ready K-12 STEM application demos
  • Innovative online animation tools to engage and excite students to learn
  • Improving Science Ed through reading comprehension

Leo Gilling, Chairman of the Jamaica Diaspora Task Force Action Network (JDTAN) added:  “The summit is exactly what I believe is needed as Educators get ready to start the school year via Remote Learning. It’s a robust continuation of the work JDETF started with Loma Linda University via the EXCEED program several years ago.”
